BIOGRAPHY
COLIJN STRYDOM
(b. 1979 Pretoria, South Africa)
Born in Pretoria, Colijn Strydom now lives and works in Cape Town. In 2008 he obtained an MA (Visual Arts) from Stellenbosch University. His practice is focused on drawing but extends to painting, photography and performance.
Strydom’s subject matter is diverse and draws from literature, history, folk tales and contemporary culture. His art often engages with gender and whiteness, using humour and other self-reflexive strategies. The realm where spirituality and politics intersect interests him, as well as drawing and painting as subjects in themselves.
